PRODUCT CARE

To keep your Motu pieces look their best and giving them a long life, passed from generation to generation, we suggest the following care instructions.

 

TEAK WOOD

Teak is a tropical hardwood with a beautiful golden/honey brown colour when it is new. Over time, as natural teak is exposed to the elements, it gradually changes colour from the honey colour of new teak to a silver-gray patina, which distinguishes finely aged, outdoor teak. If left untreated this silver-gray patina will deteriorate to a dark-gray or greenish colour.

As all of our items are hand made, each individual piece varies in characteristics and colours, highlighting its authentic beauty of the wood. All of our products are completely sealed, but please note there is still a possibility the Teak will mark with oils/contact with liquid. 

For cleaning we recommend using a warm damp cloth, no chemical based products as this can affect the composition and overall appearance of the wood. Polishing with Goldern Care Teak products or a high-grade bees wax is suggested to prevent the wood from drying out and to maintain its appearance. We suggest to use tablecloths & placemats when dining.

RATTAN
As all of our items are handmade, each individual piece varies in characteristics and any imperfections are the beauty of the material. We recommend indoor use with Rattan pieces as they are delicate and can be easily damaged by the elements. If you do wish to use your Rattan pieces outdoors, please keep them out of direct sunlight for too long and bring them inside during any wet weather to maintain their beauty and longevity.

CANVAS
We use a natural high-quality heavy canvas for our chairs and lounge covers, which may vary in grain and natural markings.

We suggest spot cleaning with a damp cloth for the chairs as these are not removable. All covers on the lounge are removable and machine washable. Although our materials are pre-washed, please wash on a delicate cycle and only line dry to avoid shrinkage.
